I think she's done, photographically. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that she had given up working. Her website and blog appear to be gone, and she's off of Facebook. There is still a Linkedin listing for her.

Thank you, David.
That makes sense though it would be a pity if she had given up photography. I loved her work!

It is a pity. However, she was in that horrific auto accident a few years ago and had difficulty shooting after that. That may or may not have been a contributing factor. I'm going to ask around to some folks who might know more, but I'm really no closer to Australia than you are.

And, on the whole, people do give up photography. Their reasons are their own.

I, too loved her work. I would love (still) to meet her some day.

I met her a few years ago, and that was some time after her accident and she had recovered quite well and was still shooting. But I have not heard from her in a while.

She was at Photostock 2009 I think. Really nice lady. Great fun and she did some very nice work.

Yes. And my "sources" tell me that she was recovered and that the accident really didn't cause her to quit photography; but that she has, apparently, quit - at least commercially. Like I said, people have their reasons.

I think she had a bit of a love/hate relationship with web forums and social networks like Facebook, and perhaps felt if was too much of a time suck. I feel similarly at times, but still like to stay engaged with the photo community I've built here and over on FB, but I must say, I miss seeing her work and her banter. Hoping she'll turn up in the states someday so that she and I can take that planned "Thelma and Louise" road trip we often chatted about in a convertible with an 8"x10" camera set up with us and without the driving off a cliff at the end!!

I remember the Thelma & Louise banter well, Suzanne! That was hilarious!

Nicole and I met at the 2008 Photostock, and she took a lot of time to sit down to look at my lith prints and discuss particularly the portraiture. She was super nice, and I really miss her presence here too, but understand personal agendas can get in the way of things. She is such a gifted photographer and printer, but also a gifted personality. I remember sitting in Bill Schwab's camp up in Emmet County, in the beautiful woods, staring up into the sunlit tree tops, listening to the wind and just relaxing... She had a few stressful days of workshops up at Bob Carnie's Elevator business, and I remember she talked about how nice it was to relax and to just sip a glass of Merlot. I don't know what it was, but I felt a really strong connection with her immediately, like we had been friends for a long time. Although I've heard of a few people visiting Australia and having the same sensation from meeting people there.

And mozzies.

Her voice is greatly missed on this forum  Hope she comes back. Come to think of it the second part of the dynamic duo of children photographers Cheryl Jacobs hasn't been active on this forum for quite a while as well (Oct. 2013).

CJ has moved into more adult photography and does a fair bit of boudoir. You can find her on Facebook among other places, where she is very prolific and active. Her photography is definitely alive and well, and is still shooting a lot of film.

Hi all, I contacted Nicole and got the following -

Hi Kevin, it's great to hear from you. Haven't touched a camera in 2 years. One day again maybe. All happy and healthy here. I trust you are keeping well? Pls give my regards to everyone I know on APUG.

Hello to my dear old friends! Kevin texted me today, thank you Kev. We (family) are all well, the photography mojo just died. I'm not good at self promotion, stay away from competitions and prefer the quiet life. I've given away most of my darkroom gear to students and fellow artists, although kept my trusty dev gear and favourite cameras. Always been a "minimalist", clutter zaps energy. Though, Thomas, I'm still hunting for my 8x10" portrait LF camera, which may just spark the fire in the belly again one day. Suzanne, our road trip will definitely happen one day. Won't miss that one!! it's great to see you all again. Maybe I'll hang around a bit and see what you've all been up to in the past couple of years. Mono, my old friend, good to see you again. Thomas, I've switched to Cab Merlot in winter & SB spritzers in summer. Cheers everyone.
