I had the good fortune to have Ron as an instructor over the course of two photo emulsion workshops at the George Eastman Museum and got to know him a little bit in subsequent years. The Photo Engineer and his innovative co-workers at Kodak together embody a broad era of irreplaceable technical knowledge that they have patiently tried to preserve and pass on. With many of us here, they have been successful. Peace to Ron and to all who loved him.

Generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge, kind and patient to all. A huge loss to Photrio and the entire analogue community. Condolences to his family.

Really sorry to hear this, we have heard too much bad news of good people already this year, both famous persons and personal friends. I will miss reading his technical contributions and his patience in dealing with comments and questions.

I still feel a little guilty concerning some rather forthright remarks which I made to him about a problem which I had with a Kodak product many years ago; Kodak had been his employers and hence his great loyalty, but he responded to my criticism with an explanation in his usual kind and polite manner, even together with an apology and even though my grumble was nothing to do with his time there. Thanks, Ron, you were a gentleman in every way,

We lost more than a pillar, it's the entire roof that has gone with Ron.

Oh no. I will miss his generosity and humor and especially his patient and extremely competent help.
And I will just plain miss having him here at photrio.
My condolences to his family.

He will be greatly missed. When he posted, I made sure to read them a few times, I knew there was more knowledge then I could grasp in 1, 2 or 10 times reading threw. I will still be learning more and more from his posts.

RIP

As many have already said, I always paid attention when I saw his name in a post. I feel his was a depth of knowledge we might not see again. RIP

I keep coming back, reading everyone's posts. I just can't believe it.
i know, me too ... i can't believe it either, for me its kind of a flotsom, pat gainer, pete gowland moment, my reality is bent again ...

there is lots of kodachrome, cadmium paper and blix up there, and he is amongst a lot of friends .. i'm sure he, pat and pete gowland and uncle A are talking shop... its going to be weird not reading someone saying " what works for you do it " ...

I've been trying to think of something to say all day, since I saw this thread, and nothing seems to do his memory justice.
Whether it was posts in threads, or Conversations/Private messages, anything he posted was valuable.
Our respective Kodak "roots" were a source of commonality, but much more important was his commitment to the science and spirit of photography.
82 is far too young.
I think I'll wear something magenta in his memory.
RIP Ron, and condolences to his family and the huge world of people who considered him a friend.

Sit down and re-read all of his conversations with me, every word and every letter.
I imagine how much he was suffering from illness but he was struggling to answer my inquiries.

To the gardens of Eden, O great teacher.
