I just received BSP's photo of the reconstruction on the beach. Nice story, Bill, although I'm sorry you have to tell it. You got the piece of equipment in just the right position. Thanks Bill!

A very nice postcard from @RSImages / Robert was awaiting me when I got home from work today.
This close-up of a flower (my wife thinks it is a Echinacea) insprires me to also shoot some flowers this coming spring with my C220.
I hope my photo's turn out this good.

Thanks Robert.

Your wife would be correct. It isn't the traditional purple coneflower that you think of when you think of Echinacea, but it is a coneflower.

@ Lucid. The aspect ratio was chosen purely to minimise waste from cutting an 8x10 sheet in half, and minimal cropping of the 35mm neg.

@BSP, tezzasmall & MattiS. My card arriving almost perfect is just the luck of the postal services. I enjoy seeing how the cards fair during transit of the various postal services.

@hwv. Thanks, I thought too that the white boarder brought out the darker tones.

Thanks to everyone else who noted they'd rec'd my cards. Been out of the exchange since round 44 and so glad to be back in it.

I've just received my first card of this round - "Downtown Columbus" from mfohl.
Great card with exceptional composition and beautiful tones and contrast.
Thank you Mark for such a start of a round!

I received one today in a little plastic envelope from the post office apologizing for its condition. Image was perfect. I flipped it over and almost all of the writing had disappeared. I think it was from @BSP but I'm not certain. It was a dog sitting on the beach. Made me want to go some place warm.

Indeed that was one from me. I think I need to use a better pen next time. Brownie points for the post office for the envelope and decyphering the remaining glyphs one the back. In summmer that spot is indeed a nice place to be but then dogs are not allowed.

So, post card exchamge, people talk a little, none shown here. Is this the intent of this idea and thread, totally secret images?

I am curious about something since this is my first time in the exchange. How many people print their postcards in a darkroom as opposed to ink jet printing?

I sent mine out to be printed, but it wasn't done in a darkroom. I'm hoping I can finish setting up my enlarger before the next round.

I was under the impression that inkjet prints are frowned upon here and darkroom prints are mandatory.
I only print in the darkroom.

Thanks for the kind words, Ilya.

My postcards are darkroom. Half the fun of photography (IMHO) is printing in the darkroom.

When I signed up I confirmed that it didn't have to be printed in the darkroom. Otherwise I wouldn't have. I suppose there can be a difference between what is allowed and what is preferred or not. If it is against the policy then my bad.

I can agree at least as it pertains to developing film, which technically isn't darkroom I guess. Love pulling a roll of film out of the tank and seeing the images I took as I hang it to dry.

I also wanted to say that your card reminded me some classic American urban images.
I'm very impressed.

And I am glad you did!
I enjoy your photo of that coneflower very much.

If you read the rules, you will learn that this is the only exchange that permits inkjet prints.
Here is the link to the FAQ: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/the-postcard-exchange-faq.82546/
And a quote from the relevant excerpt:
"I moved and my darkroom is not yet finished, am I allowed to send inkjet prints?
You are allowed to do so. The only rule is that the capture media should be a traditional media like film, polaroid etc. But you are allowed to scan and print but please do not over-photoshop your image, this is the APUG postcard exchange, keep it in mind."

That's how you get lured into participating
Yep have to be in it to win it.

Dont sweat over it, last round I did neither, this round I intend printing on baking paper.

Cardspiracy, right
No, just it makes no sense to me, somebody stated it "lures people in" and I am lured out. What is so secret about postcards people make and send out? I would like to see what is being done, after all postcards used to be in their own genre just like movie posters, do people just pic an image and print it or do they do what postcards used to look like, and there were some awsome ones made in GOD.

I may be wrong, but postcards (or just any prints) shot with cell phone camera in usual lighting conditions and without additional PS efforts would not look even half what they look in real. Details lost, contrast changed etc.

Sorry, elaborate please as I see no connection to what I said.

Good old postcards were a small piece of art for sale on the cheap, there was often more to card's design than just the image itself. Making exchange event without showing it off? Ok, just not for me.
