Sinar Booster 1 - user feedback requested

Those who can address user experience with Sinar Booster 1 - please share.

Field work is part of potential use. I am loaded with Spot meters options, so not a case of looking for a meter per se. I would use it with Minolta Autometer Vf.

But through the lens metering does appeal to me, although I know it is not a small kit to add to the bag.

How is this in use, durability of the probe/connection, is it a nuisance tool ?

I recently acquired one for my F2. It meters about the same as my DSLR, so that's a good sign.

My first test negatives came out about a stop overexposed, but that might be a shutter speed issue on that particular lens. I'll be trying another test run soon.

It didn't seem any more of a nuisance than any other metering approach, save that I was a bit paranoid about keeping stray light from the probe. Since it has a shutter that closes off the viewing side when in use, I'm not sure if that's absolutely necessary. But I figured it can't hurt.

Can't speak to durability yet - sorry.

Thanks. I've one coming too, so I will share my own experience when I have time with it. On the stray light, I've seen comments on this, but I can't see anything in the manual. Probably worth dry testing with and without dark cloth over for comparison.

I mainly like that it is effectively TTL metering taking into account everything in light's path, including any loss through extension. But it does seem more time consuming than typical spot meter. I actually wound up ordering a "new" Flashmeter IV specifically for this use, being listed as original meter it was meant for.
