… now that everyone who wanted to be in the limelight has seen that light go dim, and a lot of money probably has been spent on legal fees. It’s a malicious game…

I've updated the original, contentious thread about the case to reflect this news.
That thread remains closed.

Natalie Frank, a Texas native stated:

“The violation of rights and speech is already prevalent in our school classrooms, school bathrooms, and health care clinics, and Texas has always been a worst offender,” Frank said. “As one of the worst ranked states for education in this country, perhaps the state should be less concerned about banning books and art and more focused on its rudimentary education of children.”

Bingo.

They haven’t. They’ll be back with a similar song and dance soon.

Absolutely correct. They got their way via questionable allegation/complaint. Removal of the artworks and some publicity. Plus a bit of punitive curbside justice. That satisfies their goal. It’s a tactic that works.

Never heard of her. Had to look her up on the internet and now probably know even less now than before. Never been one to seek confrontation to claim a mantle of victimhood. Begs the question why a woman from Virginia would post her "work" in Texas, knowing it's the place where Hank Hill lives. Personally I like Hank Hill and wish there were more like him. There's 49 other states. Pick your morality level from the many choices, and you won't have confrontation. Or was there an agenda?

F, for the record, Sally Mann didn't "post her work".....she's an established artist and her work was part of an exhibit on display in perhaps the best-known museum in Fort Worth.

Please pardon me for chiming in about something where I know nothing. You gotta feel for the citizens of Texas in a way. They have taken quite a hit in the last several years. Must be somewhat perplexing to have a culture you're used to living, having targets painted on it from outside sources. You have to believe that a trained museum curator is a professional, who occasionally has to post things that he would not have asked for, knowing it could be a magnet for trouble. There was once a famed US judge... I forgot who... but stated:"I cannot define pornography, but know it when I see it".

This episode is intended to sew fear and degrade the social fabric —a standard tactic employed by autocrats, and in this case it was successful.

On a similar note, just watched a national news story where a graduate student was “arrested” by masked men and removed from campus, notwithstanding (1) She was here on a valid student Visa, and (2) under a Judge’s order that she NOT be removed. That these “officers” were masked adds to the sense of generalized terror and helplessness that this Administration is actively and aggressively employing across the board.

For any “thinking” person, this is a case of the current regime spitting in our faces and telling us it’s rain. Expect to see more and worse.

Now … as a thinking person with a camera … what is to be done?
