I have it. Great book. It's a Yale book, so of course there are many essays — 80 pages in a 300-page book—, but Dannny Lyon is a fantastic subject, and all the essays are interesting. The rest is an excellent retrospective, perfectly curated for who wants to get a sense of the variety and depth of his work. More than worth it at half price.
Nice catch.I scored a decent pile of used books today.
Nice catch.
The Jill Krementz book has some really fine author portraits.
I have that one and another author themed book of hers; "The Writer's Desk", but I really think the images in both deserves better printing.
With all the attention on gender these days, one can hope she can have those republished in the quality they deserve, while she is still alive.
I like her unimposing style a lot - the subject gets the attention, not herself, but it probably also works against her when someone decides which books of the past should be reprinted.
The subject matter in the two mentioned books are of historical significance of course, so I hope that may help pave the way.
In the meantime these books are easy to find for pocket change, and more than worth it - as good photographs transcends poor printing.
Listening to Sasha Wolf's interview with Rahim Fortune made me reopen I Can't Stand to See You Cry, a book I enjoyed immensely when I got it but hadn't look at in a while.
Putting some money aside to get his latest, Hardtack.
Thanks for the pointer to the interview, looking forward to listening to it.
Her most recent interview with Todd Hido is also very interesting. He talks a bit about his latest book, The End Sends Advance Warning.

I'm not a huge Todd Hido fan
No, but I have Sally Mann's book of posthumous photos of his studio, Remembered Light. They were good friends. https://gagosianshop.com/products/r...y-in-lexington-photographs-by-sally-mann-bookI just picked up a book of photos by the late great painter Cy Twombly. They are very impressionistic and soft, but I like them. I wonder if any of you have seen them, and what do you think?

Ellsworth Kelly is credited with inventing a new kind of painting, one inspired by nature but also by the chance compositions he encountered in the world. He started taking photographs in 1950, using a borrowed Leica to make notations of things I had seen and subjects I had been drawing. Unlike...aperture.org
One of my favorite photobooks.
I've been following him on Instagram, and having a difficult time resisting the impulse to get the book. I should hurry, he posted that vol IV is soon to be sold out, as are the first three...
Still, it will have to wait. Just ordered Daido Moriyama: A retrospective (Prestel Publishing).
