Got this one from the library and it is awesome! Apparently, there are two more with photographs collected by the same guy. Can't wait to see those!

The books arrived today.
WOW.
Beautifully done.
Impeccable packaging.
Gorgeous book.

You're welcome. So far, I've been most impressed with Nazraeli packaging, but Radius was no slouch. My last book from Amazon wasn't even shrink wrapped (which I guess is better for the environment) and was thrown loose into the box in which some other misc. was delivered.

On the heels of @Daniela post above. I've been considering this title for a while. I like "collected" images.

A fantastic book on Panoramic Camera history. So many cameras including prototypes are discussed. A 550 pages hefty work providing tons of info. , pictures, cutaway diagrams etc.

Nazraeli and Radius are top notch. Steidl is no slouch either. Amazon is a joke.

Sergio Larrain's London has some beautiful street photography taken around 1958-1959. His compositions are very intriguing.

After a bit of a drought, I just picked up two books that have been on my list for a while:
  • Jim Marshall Jazz
  • Jill Freedman Resurrection City, 1968
I'll probably also pick up the new Eugene Richards Book Do I Know You?

Yes, it is a sickness... 🥴

I just found this thread; I'm not going to read through 27 pages, but I must contradict logan2z.
Collecting photo books is a reliable sign of good mental health.
Eric, nice find. Enjoy!

A few new acquisitions.

Sergio Larrain, "Valparaiso" — this has long been unobtainable, but Atelier EXB reissued it last year (check out if still available, @Bazamat )
Paul Caponigro, "Landscape" — OK, but his photos really deserve better reproduction quality
Robert Adams, "Eden"
Frank Gohlke, "Thoughts on Landscape: Collected Writings and Interviews" — simply brilliant writing about photography and landscape
Wayne Gudmundson, "Crossings, a Photographic Documentary of Fargo, North Dakota
Wayne Gudmundson, "Walking on Water"
Oliver Gagliani, "Oliver Gagliani"

Last three are ordered, not yet received.

You've done well! 🙂 I have the Aperture version of Valparaiso, great book. Is the Atelier EXB reissue available in English? It shows a choice of either French or Spanish on their site.

Re: Eden, a beautiful little book from Steidl. I really like the cover material and the choice of paper. I'm a big Robert Adams fan and have all but maybe three or four of his books. Still working on completing the collection 😉

I don't own any Frank Gohlke books yet but I like his work. I've been waiting on the reissue of Measure of Emptiness from Steidl for years, but still no availability date. They also have another Gohlke book titled Speeding Trucks and Other Follies in the pipeline but no date for that one either. There will obviously be some Gohlke content in the reissue of New Topographics from Steidl which does appear to be coming out around the middle of this year. Fingers crossed.

Don't know if I posted these yet. Anthony Hernandez L.A., 1971 and Anthony Hernandez. Two from Thomas Joshua Cooper, The World's Edge and Refuge. Plus a book of critical essays, The Pleasures of Good Photographs by Gerry Badger.

My most recent acquisitions:

Jim Marshall: Jazz - OOP but I found a brand new/sealed copy on eBay for a reasonable price.

Jill Freedman: Resurrection City 1968 - It was previously available for $50 new from jillfreedman.com, but the price jumped to $80 several months ago and I honestly didn't think it was worth that price. But I found a new/sealed copy in a small bookshop in upstate NY for $45. Sometimes it pays to be a cheapskate and hunt around 😉

Two from Thomas Joshua Cooper, The World's Edge and Refuge.

I recently 'discovered' the work of Thomas Joshua Cooper and have been on the lookout for one of his books, Between Dark and Dark, but the copies I've seen have been very expensive. Dreaming the Gokstadt also looks interesting. I haven't seen World's Edge or Refuge but I'll have to check them out.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Accomodating Nature: The Photographs of Frank Gohlke, grab it! It's extraordinary. He's as eloquent as Robert Adams in both his writings and his photographs, but in a different tone, so to speak.

I'm really looking forward to receiving the Wayne Gudmundson books. Had never heard of him until I read Gohlke's essay about him. Later watched the short PBS documentary devoted to him, which compelled me to get the books. They are quite affordable on the used market.

I saw the World's Edge exhibited at LACMA a few years ago. What struck me (beyond the photos) is the fact that he traveled to these remote destinations and worked under extreme conditions only to make a single exposure each time. Takes confidence and guts. https://www.lacma.org/art/exhibition/thomas-joshua-cooper-worlds-edge

Read it this past December. Such an enlightening book!

For English, you can get the Thames & Hudson version

I pre-ordered the book from Amazon — I know, I know... — last fall as soon as Atelier EXB announced it, so I was a bit surprised this week when I opened the box and discovered I had the Thames & Hudson English version. Same book, though, from what I can tell.
