I wrote this as a joke one morning and now the whole world thinks it's some sort of Ten Commandments. Lighten up folks!

Jesus Early, lighten up a bit! Even I who have little sense of humor concerning photography understood this is a joke..... or perhaps I am not as enlightened as I thought and I am just a whore.....

Quote from another site on this link:
Rockwell seems to think that art is above commerce, fine for an artist, silly for a commercial photographer who's trying to put food on the table. You get hired by knowing what sells, not by having an inner vision of the world that you translate to film or file.

Rockwell's idea of a "whore" is your aspiring fashion photo student's ideal of a "style". By your style shall you be hired.

One strange genre that he missed was the "professional who assumes they're an artist" those photographers who confuse money with vision, as in "that's a professional image". Rockwell rightly defines professional as "making money" and doesn't confuse the definition with any influence of "professional workmanship" equated to "art".
Interesting observations. Whaddaya think? More crap?

Art.

Once again, whoever wrote the message is taking Rockwell too seriously! I dont know, I thought it was a funny piece with no special or important "meaning" just a little rant if you were....I guess I am one of the few who took it this way...

I suspect most people take it that way, and therefore aren't terribly vocal about it.

I thought it was a satirical poke at some sacred cows, that probably reflected some of the writer's own feelings. Kind of similar to Canadians and 'Americans'.

For me nothing to get upset about or take too seriously.
