I had given some thought to getting 'out' with my camera for some 'nice' winter images (and 'away from any possible 'house-work' chores)... but on checking the on-line 'weather channel' and seeing that we here (in Alberta) were under severe cold warning of below than -30 degrees Celcius, it might just be 'better' to go back into bed for another hour (or so)....

Hail is covering the back deck -- snow promised soon.

Update...11pm - snow falling in Blue Lake, CA, elevation about 80 feet. Outside temp only 35, so a messy snow.

It is close to midnight here and it is cold. Just came in from running an errand and it is -28C(-18F) with wind chill feels like -37C(-34F) A little bit of a break forecasted for next week but then back to cold next weekend. Looks like a lot of darkroom time for next week

Last night at the town bar -- I live on the other side of it. Went in and listened to the last two songs of the night, had a pint of porter and then the town lost power for 3 or so hours. Slushy here too, this morning...the big red building is the local Grange -- I flipped pancakes for a couple hours there this morning for the monthly pancake breakfast. Blue Lake, CA is at about 80 feet elevation and 300 miles north of San Francisco.

Now it is time to develop 6 more 5x7 negatives from southern Chile (where it is still summer!)

I've come to realize that snow always looks great when it's somewhere else.

Yeah, it’s great if you don’t have to shovel it.

And your darkroom isn’t in an outbuilding.

Something must be wrong with me because I enjoy being in it. On the other hand I do not live in snow country.

Where sly (Lillian) lives, there usually isn't a lot of snow.
Lots of rain, but for most years not much snow.
This month, we are both seeing much more snow then usual.

Its been kind of a see saw lately. January thaw lasted about a month, then a cold snap with wind chills that were for a few days, then seasonal cold weather than threats of the storm of the century where it was about 31F and snowy, now its in the 40's and everything is melty and snowy. I like corn-snow and it the snow is super white and hasn't gotten polluted yet. We have a husky nearby so I gotta keep an eye out.

Woke up to almost tropical weather -- in the mid 50s! It is 60F now -- warm wind from the south -- generally means more rain is coming. Just 0.6" last night.
