At the moment, 10C and sunny. Just got in from photographing the fall colors in the neighborhood (F6 with a roll of E100VS and a couple of lenses); I'll head down to the Jericho or Locarno in a few hours to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine, and maybe capture the crabbers at work.

Frost last evening, strong winds from the north.

My plants were on the deck, facing southwest, against the house, covered with two retired bed sheets, so no damage.. unlike last year when I failed to watch the forecast!

Left town on the bicycle, wondering if my black shirt might get too hot on the beautiful sunny day yesterday. It was noon, about 70F, chilly on the bike, so I kept my vest on until I got the 5 or 6 miles down river where the valley becomes part of the flatlands around Humboldt Bay. From then on it was thick fog and bloody cold! Added a couple layers (wool sweater and rain jacket) -- shorts and sandals were okay, but had rain pants as back-up. I headed north along the coast and spent some time hanging out at the mouth of the Mad River, watched the sea lions who were also hanging out. Fog thick enough to turn my lights on, no sunset tonight, and by the time I got back the 15 miles to home, the fog had moved solidily up the valley. A very nice ride...only a couple digital images of the fog.

Here in Halifax, Nova Scotia we have about 3cm of slippery snow down. Accidents everywhere because nobody has their winter tires on yet (snow is about a month early right now).

Today it's -3C and snowing in the Montréal region; in two days it will be 18C and summery; after that it's back to the sub-zeros.

I will be using all my 17 different outfits for the hour-by-hour changing weather...

A beautiful day, managing to top at 65F...had a nice bicycle ride into town to pick up a prescription, but the line was too long for me to deal with, so rode back home...nice little 20 mile ride all around.
Rain out in the offing...looking forward to it. I'll load up a Jobo 3006 Expert Drum with 5x7s later tonight and develop them while watching the rain come down tomorrow!

This morning the leaves of the rhododendron tree outside my bathroom window were curled into needles...winter has arrived. By the way, with regard to warming climate, this past summer not sufficient degree days for my hawthorn tree or hickory trees to bear fruit.
Nonetheless, time for winter pics. Stark rural winter landscapes have an impact quite different from Summer; and in town bundled up women have a certain charm.

Car got stuck. Shovel got stuck. I got stuck. Pandemic is on, school closing tomorrow but hey! There was still school today because since when does a half foot falling in 2 hours stop school from closing rite?

My step son lives with us(or is it the other way 'round) and had the tractor out at six this AM. He still had to wait until 8:30 for the highway dept to plow the main road before he could leave for work. We're scheduled for up to 12 inches by tomorrow morning. Life on a mountain top!

In the early 70's I lived between Oswego and Fulton NY, I fully understand "lake effect snow". I moved from upstate NY to Park City, Ut, I really understand "mountain blizzard". I still love snow(some what). Where I am now is an old ski resort that closed in the 70's and am about 10 minutes from one of the largest ski resorts in the state. Unfortunately, all my X-C gear is at my other house in Cameron County, Pa. or I would be out playing in the stuff.

I got stuck nine times today. I'm sitting here listing to the chorus of engines revving up and down the block. Everyone got stuck today. Saw a firetruck bogged down. Transmission guys are rubbing their hands together in anticipation.
