  • On the left is my Plaubel Makina IIIR, with 100mm F4.2 Rare Orthometar lens (their sharp lens), Makina Hood. Makina Yellow Filter. Also this camera has the Rare Focal Plane Shutter, with speeds to 1/1000 so high speed film can be used under bright conditions. To the right is my new Peco Junior, it's really not any bigger than my Makiflexes. I am delighted. Shown with Peco Jr Bag Bellows, and standard lens, late model 100mm F5.6 Schneider Symmar with Compur Shutter. There's a 6x9cm Makina 120 Back on the camera. Top right is the Magnifier (I think it is Plaubel!) Viewfinder I have tested it with all my Peco Junior lenses from 47mm to 210mm and it's becoming an important accessory. In right front is MX/521 Back for Plaubel Makina Double Rail Backs, I have three of these. A cool pop-up Viewfinder on the back I rebuilt and I also installed a nice fresnel behind the glass. Small and handy, slide the pop-up off, and attach a 6x6 or 6x9 Makina Roll Back.
    Finally on the left front is the Standard Bellows, and the three parts (needs final assembly) of the Jim Galvin 120 Back. The board I got from Glenn fits the front of my Pecoflex, but not the Peco Junior. But I have a flat Rear Standard Plate original Peco that will be perfect for finishing this back. I made a spacer plate out of sawn alder wood in my shop, you see that on top. Peco Junior needs new front and back light seals, but in perfect working order. Like the Sinar Norma this camera locks down tight no play at all. And I have a number of original lensboards that need new light trapping. BTW They made a viewfinder set, so that the Peco Jr can be hand held It's lighter than the Makiflex I think, with perspective control. With a short rail it would be very desirable

I bought this camera a few days ago from Adorama in New York City. It was advertised as basket case junk nasty parts camera. I decided to buy it for parts, especially the rail Now that it's here it looks to me in some ways better than the one I already have! Came with original lensboard #0 hole worth a few bucks I can tell you. So quite a deal for -seventy dollars-. Too choice to chop up for parts.

Yes, and it seems you're getting all the good out of that Ektar lens that's in it. Going on an Autumn color tour next week and will be using my Kodak Medalist II, Kodak Monitor 620 with 101mm f4.5 "SPECIAL" lens and Pentax 6X7 55mm, 105mm and late 200mm.

These days I only really use three Medium Format Cameras. In order of most to least used:

Rolleiflex T v1 (s/n reckons this is a fairly late grey model, just before the switch to the v2 black Ts)
Zeiss Nettar 518/16 (for when I want to carry something even smaller than a TLR)
Yashica C

I find I can do 90%+ of my photography with a "slightly wide of normal" lens - the 75mm lenses on 6x6 is perfect. The 80mm of the Yashica is not much narrower in practice.

In a search for a smaller medium format camera, I took a chance on a Voigtlander Perkeo ll. After a shutter overhaul from the #lensmedicyyc in Calgary here's a print from the first roll of Tri-X 120. Love that Color-Skopar lens!!

As far as I can tell, all generations of Skopar are excellent, as long as they're correctly assembled. I've got a 10.5 cm f/4.5 Skopar-Anastigmat on my Rollfilmkamera (1927 vintage) that's dead sharp, even at f/5.6.

As a byproduct of trying to check all the shutterspeeds, i found that the Color-Skopar lens shows shadow detail very well.... in this shaded corner with natural light on the white walls.... and the detail on the metal ice axe head and maker's stamp and wood grain on the shaft is impressive to me.... hand held wide open at 1/10th sec

Just finished a roll on a lubitel 166. Waiting for all the pieces and, knock on wood, this h2 will be up and running. I've got two great wall dfs, kiev 60 and 88, gfx 50sii, and others. Been a blast shooting with them all.

Nice cameras. I was fortunate enough to get my Hasselblad equipment in the 2005 to 2010 time frame when the professional photographers were tripping over each other to sell all of their equipment for digital.

My stash of 70mm 24 exp rolls 05 2022 by Nokton48, on Flickr

I'm shooting 70mm film again. At the moment these A70 70mm Hassy backs are loaded with: original Plus-X 1981 vintage, Kodak WL Surveillance film, Agfa Aviphot 200 (Rollei) fresh, and Ilford HP5+ fresh. I like to preload 24 exposure rolls and a have quite a lot of med format that needs developing. Development in modified Paterson reel tanks, or JOBO 2500 series Multitanks, spun on Unicolor Uniroller. A new addition is Kodak Plus-X Aerographic 2402 film. I like 'em all. Bulk film in medium format is thrifty

Great choices. Also very thrifty, bang for the buck. These "heavy metal" early vintage Mamys really cut the mustard. If you get a good one it'll become like an old pair of shoes. Comfortable and effortless to use.

Mine. Often I will alternate Hassy and Mammy sometimes even for same studio setup. Both systems quite competent for my uses.

I might have asked this before, but where are you sourcing 70mm film aside from the fresh hp5+. I've been slitting down 70mm to 120 for a while now and am always on the lookout for cans.

All of it has come from Ebay, stuff pops up periodically. I search every so often under search criteria "70mm film". Stuff is out there. The original Plus-X came to me with a bunch of darkroom stuff. He threw it in

A German dealer was selling the Rollei 400s fresh they had hundreds and hundreds of rolls, but they have sold through it It was 90 Euros for a hundred feet, what a deal Again it pops up on Ebay. It can be ordered direct from Agfa Aerial. You have to buy a lot


BTW how is the 2402 from Mumbai working out for you?

Quite alright once I got the handle on it. Learned to scan it from the dull side to cut down on scratches in the scan.

6x7cm 70mm Kodak 2402 Aero Film Perfed 1982 dated by Nokton48, on Flickr

Here's my first 18 exposures (6x7cm in a Graphic 70mm RH50 back) processed in D23 1:1 on Uniroller. Quite good I think too Best deal from the Guy in Mumbai is his "six pack". Like about 40 Bucks a roll. Prolly should load up the truck LOL

This is the Makiflex Automatic with 240mm chrome barrel Schneider Tele-Xenar, a 2x3 lens that I have not used much. Graflex RH-50 70mm back 6x7cm/18 exp. Kodak Aerographic Plus-X 2402 type II perfed, developed in Paterson five reel tank with custom twin 70mm reels. D23 1:1 12 minutes at 73F produces a beefy negative easy to print. 8x10 Arista #2 RC developed in Multigrade. Omega DII laser aligned 180mm black Rodagon, I like using the Makiflexes in the studio with my olde Broncolor strobes. Classic Tim Kelly portrait lighting. Depth of field is extremely limited in this setup, but the central buds of the flowers are sharp near the center of the print. This olde film has a softness that I like. Looks vintage and now retro. The background is called "Tim Kelly Classic Beige" painted for me the Artist David Maheu. BTW he is retiring this year so if you want one you better hurry up

Hi Sirius, I got both cameras from a friend. The Bronica and the Rollei had recently services and they both work well. The Rollei came with 3 Lenses and equipment and I had to pay quite more in relation to the Bronica... ;-) but i dont regret it. It was a fair offer. I am aware of the Rollei and there electronic parts so that i am looking for spare-parts or a whole Body just in case for this matter.
