A used Canon DSLR, Speedlight, and old manual Tamron macro lens for insect photography. But before ye shower me with obscenities, my next purchase will be boxes of Ektar 4x5

Two plastic mesh baskets from the dollar store - I want to try to rig up a cheap and cheerful method for processing 4x5 sheet film.

Gold toner MT-10 from Moersch photochemie for Lumen prints. I rather prefer untoned Lumen prints than with gold toned ones.

Vintage Rolleiflex books, circa 1930's. A prolific author of the time was one Dr. Walther Heering. He seems to have been a great traveler, with a passionate affection for the Rollei. They feature lots of advice and elegant photography. Many have English editions that are very competently translated. Given the time frame, I have wondered when/if I would find something overtly Nazi, but with one exception they have been completely clean. "Das Goldene Buch der Rolleiflex" has a pic of the Rollei factory with two Nazi flags on the facade.

Also books from Ansco, Kodak, Ilford et al, from the 1930's-1940's Lots of nostalgia and occasionally a formula that seems worth trying. However, I have begun to wonder if I have not been doing something wrong all this time. Illustrations in these books invariably show a male darkroom (or other) worker wearing a white shirt and necktie. Apparently it is ok to roll up one's sleeves, and it also must help to smile at the chemistry. I have been known to curse at it with no apparent effect, but I have yet to try smiling.

Incidentally, the German language editions have something on the frontpiece that I don't quite understand. "11. bis 16. Tausend" or something similar. (The numerals differ between books.) This translates "11 to 16 thousand". Any ideas what is being said here?

I think it was a Leitz 5cm Elmar for my Leica IIIf. Got a sweet deal through APUG's Classifieds. It is a nice clean lens that cost substantially less than what they're going for on eBay.
