Still I stand behind what I said on the mechanics, different class of precision engineering, perhaps in some areas that were immaterial to a lasting functional quality.

That's not true; you can't judge it from the outside; how it feels to operate depends heavily on the camera's state of maintenance.

See my F2 collection above, which was serviced by Sover Wong. It's no comparison to a (worn out) F2 whose lubrication has dried out.

The same goes for the F-1. I have one in A condition that runs like butter. The F-1n needs servicing; it's worn out, which you can feel when you operate it.

None of this has anything to do with differences in the quality of the mechanics.

Clearly you have never used Canon F1, any version.

You just have to check to see how many Canon F1 (all versions) cameras have survived when compared to the F2 Very Very Few!

Oh well. Some say the P-51 was best. Others say the Corsair. But the P-47 was a flying anvil that could tear up everything and get back home. But since this is ic-racer's thread.... well done.

The next part of this camera's work is now in motion.

I had mentioned in the DP-1 thread that the galvanometer was dead. I still don't know exactly how I revived it. It does work but it is a little jumpy. Many times I need to hit the battery test button first to get it moving or to keep it from oscillating. After that it seems to respond fine.

I'm pretty shure the resistor ring is OK. It is the later model and resistance testing with a VOM shows no jumpy behavior. It responds perfectly.

I have two inexpensive DP-1 on the way. One dead that looks mint and one that supposedly works but looks bad. Between those two, and the one I already have I should be able to make one good unit.

In truth, it was the Focke Wulf 190 in all variants 😉

I wonder if ic-racer does this for just his own of if he takes jobs. Secondly, have you been able to find any paperwork with a chart showing shutter curtain travel speeds for the F2?
