Not really a repair but got to play in the lab again. Assembled a prototype lens assembly, centering and bonding the optics in place with UV adhesive. I got them centered to 6um or better (most were offset by only 2-3 um).

Well it's work in progress - a 7x5 back for my parts Seneca City View.
Last year I bought a 7x5 Seneca New Improved View which came with a parts only City View, meanwhile I was sent a second City View which needed less work. Last Sunday I bought a load of LF camera parts including 3 half plate backs however it turned out one was actually a 7x5. It was broken and slightly too small for the Seneca but with a little work
So this now fits the Seneca, the inner part is still to be attached but seen in the 4th photo this forms the light seal.
Luckily the Seneca is black (ebonised) so with a coat of paint it'll match perfectly (I've made lens boards etc0. I'll plate the springs later.

I put a new pad in my Yashica Electro 35 GT and cleaned the oily aperture blades of a Canon FD 50mm 1.4.
It's been at least a generation since I worked on one but don't think it would just pop apart
unless it was forced or assembled wrong.
Finished both a Canon Canonet QL17 and a Minolta HI Matic 7s today. The Minolta was easy. It seemed to work OK but was missing any foam seals. I resealed it...
The canon was a bit more. It was recently given to me and I'd guess that it probably took a pretty good jolt at some point, probably while in a case. No dents anywhere, in fact cosmetically its very clean, but the meter needle wouldn't move freely and I think had been knocked off its pivot. I couldn't get in to the pivot area to fix it so I pulled a meter out of a parts body I have and swapped it in. It works, so I calibrated the meter and went out for a test. I ran a short roll of Delta 100 through both bodies this afternoon and just finished processing. Both look like they are working just fine!
Comparing the two, my first impression is that the Minolta is a more solid piece. It just feels more substantial. I've another Canonet QL17 that I've always enjoyed but this Minolta seems to be a mighty fine camera. I'm curious to compare the scans and see how the respective lenses compare.

Got a pair of SK Grimes spanner wrenches for my birthday, put them to good use and got a Vivitar 55/1.4 M42 mount finally completely knocked apart (optical block, anyway) but what I feared to be true became certain, separation between elements over most of the surface. Lens is in otherwise excellent condition with no signs of drops.
May be time to pick up some Canada balsam or similar and learn how to recement.

Sort-of repaired an Exakta VX 1000. I somehow forgot to clean and lubricate the slow speed clockwork while I was at it, but fast speeds and everything else seems to work now.
Fixed a battery charger for a Makita drill/screwdriver. Didn't test it yet, though.

Tested. It went "poof", I saw some smoke and... To the trash it goes!
If you need to separate the elements and it's a Synthetic cement. Paint stripper works but you need to keep an eye on it.
I forgot a group for a couple of days. Did you know that methyl chloride etches glass?
PFor fixin' stuff refoamed a KX motor, Minolta XD11 and next one is a Minolta XM.
Pentax MX with a slow rising mirror too.
The spackling the holes in the walls from hanging five photographs along a wall so the that the similar sized frames line up.
Yesterday (the 24th), installed a motor plate in an F that I'm sending up to Canuckistan in a couple weeks or so.

my Pentax 645n, which I glued back together after dropping it onto concrete. I really need to stop dropping cameras....
Have you considered using a neck strap? Only walking on padded floors?
Nikon 35-70/3.5-4.5(cheapie) lube job.
Which cleaner you use exactly? Cause I had some bad experiences ... and I am still searching the perfect one

fixed a stuck guillotine shutter, works as good as new !
My Dell netbook came with a 2GB memory and I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the memory to 4GB which was an option when I bought it. The Dell documentation stated that 4GB is the maximum, yet I line I saw that Dell had tested 8GB in it but not published the information. Several other people had success upgrading to 8GB. So I bought the 8GB memory and tried it. I recognizes the 8 GB memory and runs much faster.
Restored an old 10x8 safe-light casing, re-sprayed the inside and outside, added new bulb holder and then fitted a NIB Ilford 906 safe-light screen (from 1984) that I picked up before Christmas at a camera fair. The case is at least 40 years old now ideal for Harman Direct Positive paper.

Cleaned lenses and viewfinders on two Brownie Kodak Hawkeyes. Flipped the lens on one of them. Patched the Bakelite, too. Six videos were made and uploaded to my YouTube channel, studiocarter1
The next morning I found that one scene had been repeated and had to be deleted. Proof all then post.
