Curiosity got the better of me and I ordered an Olympus Pen D. I've tried half-frame before, but with a hazed poor quality lens and a soviet camera. I want to give it a more serious shot and see how it works with a good lens and high resolution film.

Since I want to use a larger screen using LightRoom and PhotoShop, a new Mac Pro Tower. It will be replacing my mid 2012 Mac Tower.

I had two rolls of 35mm Tri-X processed, scanned and had contact sheets done at Flagstaff Camera. No darkroom yet and just too many projects right now to do anything processing in the kitchen so it was awesome that we have a lab here in Flagstaff that caters to film based photography.

Cambo SC 4x5 view camera. Quite a few lenses. Was a mix of purchase and trade — couldn't deal with the Pentax 6x7 anymore.

It really wasn't just one piece of equipment. I upgraded the flash equipment I use for macro work, mainly fish, flowers and insects. Replaced Vivitar 283s with VP-1s, a Wein Safe-Sync and a slave with two Nikon SB-600s and cabling. Can't use my D810's built-in flash as a flash commander when shooting through glass, so needed SC-16, SC-27 and AS-10. The hardest part of shopping was making sure that I got flashes that were compatible with the camera. Biggest surprise? The gear I bought, mostly used, was less expensive than expected. So cheap, in fact, that I bought cabling for my portable photo tank and for the flower flash rig to avoid having to switch it between the two.

Making a new flash holder for aquarium use remains to be done. The flower flash rig is fine for flowers, doesn't work well for aquaria; the distance between the flashes is too great for most of my fish tanks. After I get a prototype that works well I may buy cabling for the new fish photo rig too.

A Yashica Electro 35 G from a flea market. I fixed the "pad of death", cleaned the rangefinder, printed a battery adapter and it works.
Only the shutter blades do not open fully. What can I do?

GAS no 1 (Yes, I have this problem). GAS 2 will follow in a later post.

I did a low cost experiment and bought a $13.50 (plus minor shipping) Canonet GIII QL17. It cleaned up nicely with alcohol wipes. The light meter is kaput; no electrical activity at all. But this one has free shutter blades, and all speeds sound about right. Even the self-timer is working. The 40mm lens is really nice!

Question: use as is or send it off for a light meter repair?

a Sekonic L858 D flashmeter with the ability to measure not only the flash exposure but also its duration. I seldomly bought something that goood. Very happy to be ableto conduct a flash duration analysis now!
Nice! Thanks to you there is a L858 D in my B&H wish list. I already downloaded the manual.

Yesterday, I picked up my first "weird" camera which is meant to be an object d'art. It is the Kodak handle2 instant camera. I never knew these existed. I found it at a place that doesn't typically have any cameras, and it was $3.
